He was in Cub Scouts and later joined the Civil Air Patrol
.
Adrian was interested in a lot of things, especially politics
.
He was a young teenage member of the John Birch Society
.

Red Primer for Children and Diplomats
His favorite book was Red Primer for Children and Diplomats
.
Adrian played baseball and football in high school and had
his own swing band when he was sixteen. He is a long time

In 1976, when Adrian was seventeen, he went to the
Gay Liberation Day Parade and was
pictured in the New York Times.
This did not go over well with most his friends in the
National Traditionalist Caucus
, a Conservative youth group.

Adrian was pictured in the New York Times again in May of 2003,
when he went to the White House to confer with Senior Officials.
This went over well with his friends in the
Log Cabin Republicans.

On his 18th birthday
Adrian hitchhiked to New York City.
He was also interested in photography, filmmaking,
and because he liked to perform, wanted to model and be in movies.
Adrian became the protege of a former Madison Avenue advertising executive
,
experimental filmmaker and cinematographer Lloyd M. Williams
of the New York Underground Cinema Movement.

Mr. Williams was shooting film for German filmmaker Rosa Von Praunheim

and needed an assistant. Adrian pulled a dolly that Lloyd was lying on
through a crowd of disco dancers at Numbers, a gay bar on the upper
West Side of Manhattan.

In February, 1977 Adrian was introduced to the now historic rock and roll band,
the Ramones
. He was informed by a close friend that;
"You look just like them, they look just like you"
.
In order to avoid a lawsuit from the
Carbona Company,
a replacement song was required for Carbona Not Glue

on the American release of their second album, Leave Home.
The Ramones wrote their biggest hit, the ultimate anthem of freedom and
liberty, Sheena Is A Punk Rocker
, about their new teenage friend Adrian.

Andy Warhol: "You don't mind being the cute boy, do you, Adrian?"
Adrian: "No, I don't mind. Somebody has to be the cute boy,
otherwise there would be no cute boys."

The Ramones video in Ken Burns' Rock-and-Roll:

The History of Rock and Roll in Five Episodes (Episode 5)
was shot by Adrian in the Spring of 1977 at CBGBs
.
Ramones Manager Danny Fields put a video camera in Adrian's hands
and told him it was "Seymour's Camera" and to "shoot the Ramones".
Mr. Fields was referring to Seymour Stein, owner of Sire Records
and most famous for signing Madonna
.
It was a big, heavy black and white videocam,
with a huge battery pack that went over one shoulder and a big,
heavy tape deck that went over the other shoulder.

Joey Ramone
's first words to Adrian were "Why do you have a leather jacket?
Are you trying to be like us?" This was at the time when the only people
who had leather jackets were war veterans, bikers, the Ramones,
and some guys who danced with Adrian at
the Anvil (a gay bar in Manhattan) and who later became
well known as The Village People
.

.

Adrian drove his motorcycle from New York to Los Angeles.
He settled in Phoenix, Arizona where he studied to be a missionary.
Traveling to Mexico with his new church group
he brought food to an impoverished village.
In 1983 Adrian drove his motorcycle back East to Washington, DC
where he met newly elected DC City Council member

Carol Schwartz, a gay friendly Republican.
From Carol's office Adrian telephoned every unmarried male
who was registered Republican in the District of Columbia and helped
form the
local chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans.
In 1986 Carol ran for Mayor and Adrian shot a video for her.

Adrian got a job
with the Republican National Committee.
His mentor in filmmaking, Lloyd Williams, found Adrian a better job on
Long Island, NY
as a market researcher doing movie surveys.
Adrian took the job and later volunteered at the Cinema Arts Centre
's
office
where he learned the insides of the business.
Adrian also served as moderator for the
Screenwriters Discussion Group
at the Cinema.
